Tubs And Planters

Last year, after our request, WMDC provided us with 3 new planters which were put near the traffic lights on Bradford Road, these were planted up and looked super during the summer. We also have tubs on the junction between Wrenthorpe Road and Wrenthorpe Lane, and at the Beckside Orchard on Wrenthorpe Lane. Also some businesses have tubs such as Tilly Bods, the Post office and the land at the side of Gills supermarket. In order to help us with watering the tubs, we have asked the business to look after them where they are directly outside their premises We also have had some volunteers who have helped to look after tubs near where they live, especially during the hot summer months and we are always on the look out for more volunteers to help with watering, as the saying goes .. many hands make light work. Please contact us if you could help water the tubs, even if it’s only once a week. This year you may have noticed our special Wheelbarrow which we painted platinum (well silver really) and planted up for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee within the Beckside Orchard next to the insect hotel. All the tubs have looked magnificent this year, however it is especially difficult to keep up with the watering of these areas, so this year we are trying to use more drought resistant plants and mulch some of the tubs. We love making our village look vibrant and cared for, and whilst we are caring for them people comment that these tubs really cheer them up. It would be lovely if you would help us care for them too and you can say that you have helped support a particular tub or area keeping the plants alive.
