Since 1989 over 500 households have joined WRENS. Our Sunday Spruces regularly get an attendance of between 30-50 people each month. In addition we have an army of volunteers who go out on a regular basis to keep the village clean and tidy.

Our Services
We are a small volunteer society based in Wrenthorpe, carrying out a variety of environmental tasks such as:
- Maintain & replant planters around the village
- Plant bulbs around the village
- Maintain flower beds in the park
- Manage and maintain Wren Corner, the bund (Recreation ground), the triangle garden flower bed and the garden area at the side of Gills mini market
- Maintain the Community Orchards (including pruning twice/year) – Beckside Orchard, Valley Crescent Orchard and Valley Drive Orchard
- Monthly spruces – involving maintaining park beds, tidying up roadside and pavement areas in the park and litter picking around the village
- Provide and put up/take down Xmas lights
- Balsam Bashes
- Manage the WRENS volunteer group
- Attend WMDC Parks Team Annual Green Space Forum
- Maintain a good working relationship with Streetscene and WMDC Parks Team
- Maintain a good working relationship with 3 Ward Councillors
- Report to WMDC any dangerous trees/overhanging vegetation and areas where ‘pick up or pay up’ stencils for dog fouling need to be put down
- Report surface water/gulley flooding to WMDC
- Request additional waste bins via WMDC
- Creation of new areas, ie the Moss Garden
- School liaision – NB currently only Hallcliffe School
- Attendance at PACT meeting
- Consider planning applications in the village and make representations on environmental impact
- Apply for grants for funding of various projects
